Fair Play Policy
Vaulta's reward pool is funded by the community and paid to the riders who genuinely earn it. Fair play isn't just a rule — it's what makes the whole thing work. This policy explains how we protect the integrity of the competition for everyone.
Our Commitment to Fair Play
Vaulta exists to reward real effort. Every mile you ride, every metre you climb, every day you stay consistent — that's what earns your place on the leaderboard and your share of the monthly reward pool.
Because real money is at stake, we take the integrity of our competition seriously. Our systems are designed to ensure that the riders at the top of the leaderboard are genuinely the strongest riders that month — not the most technically savvy at manipulating data.
This policy applies to all users, including paid subscribers and Founder Members.
What Counts as Cheating
The following are considered violations of Vaulta's Fair Play Policy:
- GPS manipulation — using apps, tools, or modified devices to falsify your location, speed, route, or distance data
- Inflated ride data — submitting rides with speeds, distances, or elevations that are physically implausible for a cyclist
- Duplicate ride submission — submitting the same ride multiple times to inflate points or distance totals
- Multiple accounts — creating more than one account to game leaderboard positions, inflate follower counts, or claim multiple reward payouts
- Third-party automation — using bots, scripts, or automated tools to interact with the app or submit ride data
- Account sharing — allowing another person to use your account to ride or accumulate points on your behalf
- Exploiting technical vulnerabilities — attempting to manipulate the app, API, or database directly to alter ride data, points, or leaderboard standings
How We Detect Violations
Vaulta uses a combination of automated systems and manual review to identify suspicious activity. Our detection methods include:
- Speed and distance validation — rides with average or peak speeds that exceed physically realistic cycling thresholds are automatically flagged or rejected
- Elevation analysis — unusually high elevation gain relative to distance is flagged for review
- Duplicate detection — rides submitted within a short time window with similar distance data are identified as potential duplicates
- Pattern analysis — unusual patterns of activity, such as rides submitted at impossible intervals or from inconsistent locations, are reviewed manually
- Server-side verification — all ride data is validated server-side regardless of what is submitted by the app, meaning client-side manipulation is detected and corrected automatically
We do not publish the specific thresholds used in our detection systems, as this would make it easier to circumvent them. Legitimate riders operating within normal cycling parameters will never be affected by these checks.
Consequences
Depending on the severity and nature of a violation, we may take one or more of the following actions:
- Ride rejection — the affected ride is removed from leaderboard calculations and does not contribute to points or reward pool eligibility
- Ride flagging — the ride is flagged for manual review and excluded from leaderboard standings pending investigation
- Reward pool disqualification — the user is disqualified from receiving a reward payout for the relevant month
- Temporary suspension — the account is temporarily suspended pending investigation
- Permanent ban — the account is permanently banned, with no refund of any subscription fees paid
Important: Where a user is found to have deliberately manipulated ride data to gain an unfair financial advantage, we reserve the right to report the matter to the relevant authorities and to pursue recovery of any fraudulently obtained reward pool payments.
The Appeals Process
We understand that automated systems are not perfect. If you believe a ride has been incorrectly flagged or rejected, or that your account has been suspended in error, you can appeal our decision.
To appeal, contact us at hello@ridevaulta.com with the subject line "Fair Play Appeal" and include:
- Your Vaulta username
- The date and details of the affected ride(s)
- Any supporting information (for example, a screenshot from your device's native health app confirming the ride data)
We aim to review all appeals within 5 working days. Our decision following an appeal is final.
Please note that appeals submitted after the monthly reward pool has been distributed for the relevant period cannot result in retrospective payout adjustments.
Reporting a Concern
If you suspect another user is violating this Fair Play Policy, you can report them directly within the app via the community feed, or by contacting us at hello@ridevaulta.com.
All reports are treated confidentially. We do not disclose the identity of anyone who raises a concern in good faith. We investigate all credible reports but are not able to share the outcome of investigations with third parties.
Our Decisions
Vaulta reserves the right to make final decisions regarding fair play violations, leaderboard standings, and reward pool distributions. We act in good faith and in the best interests of the community as a whole.
This Fair Play Policy should be read alongside our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
